Rajasthan: “Displays the Terrible Face of Congress,” Mayawati on Alleged Sale of Girls in Rajasthan

Rajasthan: Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, urged the Rajasthani Congress government on Monday to take stern action against those responsible for the alleged sale of girls at auction in the Bhilwara area.

In an article published last week, the Hindi newspaper Dainik Bhaskar said that conflicts in the state, particularly those involving financial transactions or debts, are resolved by auctioning off females between the ages of 8 and 18.

According to the report, “if not, their mothers are raped on the order of caste panchayats for the settlement.” These ladies are being taken to Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and even other nations.

Reveals the true nature of the Congress

Mayawati claimed on Monday that these studies revealed the true nature of the Congress, which professes to support programmes for women’s emancipation.

The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh posted on Twitter, “The auctioning of girls on stamp papers in the panchayats of Rajasthan for loan repayment is a very sad situation which brings shame to society and government system.” Is this the brutal and true representation of the Congress and its state governments, who boast that “I am a girl, I can fight”?

In advance of the Uttar Pradesh elections earlier this year, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra introduced the “ladki hoon, ladsakti hoon” campaign for women’s empowerment. If the party were elected to power, the Congress had also produced a second manifesto for women that pledged a 40% reservation for them in government employment.

On Monday, Mayawati likewise requested that the investigative authorities take the reports into consideration on their own. She argued that the Congress administration should punish offenders severely and immediately apologise to the state’s female citizens.

Mayawati’s Tweet:

On October 27, in response to the reports, the National Human Rights Commission sent a notification to the Rajasthani government.

The Rajasthan government’s chief secretary was given a four-week deadline by the National Human Rights Commission to produce a thorough report on the incident and a report detailing any subsequent actions.

The human rights organisation claimed that “media reports have chronicled the suffering of many victims of such horrible atrocities.” If true, the information in the media amounts to violations of the victims of this heinous practice’s human rights.
