Rajasthan News: A visit by BJP MLA Bal Mukund Acharya to a government school in Rajasthan’s Gangapol area during Republic Day celebrations has ignited a controversy over the wearing of hijabs (headscarves) by students. The MLA reportedly questioned the dress code, leading to protests by students who claimed they were forced to raise religious slogans. The issue was raised in the state assembly by Congress MLA Amin Kagazi, who was allegedly not allowed to speak on the matter.

During the visit, Acharya questioned why some students were wearing hijabs and allegedly asked them to raise religious slogans. Protesting students accused the MLA of making inappropriate remarks and promoting religious bias. The situation was eventually diffused through police intervention.

Bal Mukund Acharya released a video clarifying his position

In response, Bal Mukund Acharya released a video clarifying his position. He stated that he had questioned whether the school had different dress codes for various events and denied instructing students to raise religious slogans. The controversy has raised concerns about communal harmony in the Walled City area of Jaipur.

Congress MLA Amin Kagazi criticized Acharya for allegedly disturbing communal harmony and called for action by February 2. The incident adds to the ongoing debate over the wearing of hijabs in educational institutions, echoing controversies seen in other parts of the country.
