Rajasthan News: In a significant move aimed at easing the financial burden on poor and middle-class families, the Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, has announced a major price reduction for gas cylinders. Under the new policy, gas cylinders will be made available for just ₹450, bringing relief to lakhs of families across the state.
Who will benefit?
Previously, this subsidy was limited to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) and families living below the poverty line (BPL). However, the state government has now expanded the scope of the scheme to include all families receiving rations under the Food Security Act. This means that anyone purchasing grains from government ration shops will now also be eligible to buy gas cylinders at the reduced price.

Currently, residents of Rajasthan pay ₹806 for a gas cylinder. The government’s decision to cut the price to ₹450 represents significant savings, especially for families grappling with rising inflation. This initiative is expected to alleviate the financial stress on a large section of the population, offering them much-needed relief amidst the ongoing economic challenges.
