In the budget year 2023-24, the state of Rajasthan has announced ambitious plans to expand its irrigation coverage in an effort to promote sustainable water use. Over the next three years, approximately 1 lakh hectares of land across 24 over-exploited groundwater blocks will be fully integrated into micro-irrigation systems. Furthermore, the Dholpur Community Lift Irrigation Scheme will encompass 28 thousand hectares in Dholpur, Rajkheda, and Sampau. An additional 800 hectares of land will be included under micro canals for irrigation purposes.

These significant announcements are part of the MIF (Mukhya Mantri Jal Swavalamban Abhiyan) project, which aims to enhance water utilization capacity within the state. By expanding the coverage of micro irrigation and implementing the Dholpur Community Lift Irrigation Scheme, Rajasthan is taking proactive measures to address water scarcity issues and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
The decision, approved by the Chief Minister, reflects the government’s commitment to efficient water management and the overall development of the agricultural sector in Rajasthan. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on agricultural productivity, reduce groundwater depletion, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of water resources in the state.
