Rajasthan Viral Video: Greedy! Man Stops Dead Mother's Last Rites, Lies On Pyre To Get Her Bangles

A strange and shocking scene unfolded in Rajasthan. A man stopped his own mother’s cremation by laying down on the funeral pyre. He refused to let the rites happen and wanted her silver bangles first.

The incident happened on May 3 in Leela Ka Bas ki Dhani village, located in Jaipur’s Kotputli-Behror district. A video of the scene has now gone viral on social media.

The viral clip shows the man, identified as Omprakash, creating chaos at the cremation ground as he demanded his late mother’s jewellery.

Omprakash is the fifth of seven sons of Bhuri Devi, who passed away earlier that day. While six sons live together in the village, Omprakash stays separately. According to villagers, there has been a long-standing family dispute over property and belongings.

As per local reports, the family removed Bhuri Devi’s jewellery, including her silver bangles, after performing the final rituals at home. These were given to the eldest son, Girdhari Lal, who had cared for her. However, Omprakash objected to this and caused a scene once the family reached the cremation site.

Cremation Delayed As Greedy Man Creates A Scene

Eyewitnesses say Omprakash climbed onto the pyre and refused to move. He demanded the silver bangles be handed over to him or he wouldn’t allow the cremation to proceed. Relatives and locals tried to calm him down, but he wouldn’t budge. At one point, he even threatened to burn himself along with the body.

The cremation, which was prepared to begin around noon, was delayed by nearly two hours. Eventually, villagers had to forcibly pull him off the pyre. Still, he sat beside the body in protest. The situation only settled after the jewellery was handed over to him.

No police complaint has been filed so far. Officials said they are aware of the incident but will only act if the family chooses to report it.

The video of the act has sparked outrage online. Many criticised the man’s behaviour, calling it disrespectful and shocking. The incident has also raised questions about family feuds and inheritance conflicts in rural India.

Locals confirmed that tensions had been brewing within the family for years. Omprakash, they say, always felt isolated from his siblings. This public protest was just another reflection of deeper issues within the family.
