Weather Update: Winter Arrives in Rajasthan with Anticipated Rainfall

Mumbai

Weather Update: The arrival of winter in Rajasthan has been marked by intermittent rains over the past few days, leading to a noticeable shift in weather conditions. Many districts have witnessed a drop in temperatures, especially during the mornings and evenings. The Meteorological Department has forecast further rainfall in the coming days, which is expected to intensify the cold in various regions of North India, including Rajasthan.

Anticipated Rainfall in Multiple Districts

The Jaipur Center of the Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a public notification on Monday morning, informing residents about the expected rain in several Rajasthan districts. The alert suggests that within the next 24 hours, torrential rain accompanied by strong thunderstorms is likely in various parts of the state, including Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Ajmer, Sikar, Dausa, Bharatpur, and Barmer. Farmers have also been advised to take necessary precautions in light of this forecast.

Impact of Western Disturbance

This rainfall is attributed to the influence of a Western Disturbance, which is expected to cause winds to blow at speeds of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour in select Rajasthan areas. It is worth noting that rain was anticipated in seven districts on the previous Sunday, resulting in only light drizzles in some parts. However, the Meteorological Department’s latest prediction for Monday indicates the likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by a drop in temperature.

Decline in Minimum Temperatures

The active Western Disturbance in the North-West region has led to a significant decrease in temperatures across various parts of Rajasthan. For instance, the minimum temperature in Pilani had fallen to 11 degrees Celsius on Friday. Similarly, minimum temperatures in Phalodi, Bikaner, and Jaisalmer have also declined by 3 degrees. IMD anticipates that once the Western Disturbance subsides, north-westerly winds will return to Rajasthan, resulting in a further drop in nighttime minimum temperatures in the districts.
