The Controversy Surrounding CCTV Cameras and Christian Prayers at DY Patil High School in Pune

Shashi Tharoor tweeted, “This is disgraceful. What gives Bajrang Dal the right to take violent action with such impunity? And how dare they claim to be defending Hinduism? No decent Hindu behaves like this. #NotInMyName.” What took place at the DY Patil High School in Pune? According to reports, there were other parents with the assailants who were upset about two things: the CCTV cameras in the ladies’ lavatory and the school’s practise of Christian prayer.

Investigating the Presence of CCTV Cameras and Religious Practices at DY Patil High School

A parent filed a FIR after learning that the school had a CCTV camera in the lavatory for female kids, held Bible-based prayers and did not observe holidays for Hindu holidays. “We are looking into the allegations leveled by the parents and an investigation is going on,” Talegaon MIDC police inspector Ranjit Sawant said, as reported by PTI. According to a parent, the principal and other teachers bullied the student if any parent brought up these concerns. Block Education Officer S. R. Walunj claimed that he visited the school and discovered no CCTV cameras, but the staff acknowledged that there was a camera there that had been taken out. According to the management, they are unaware of the CCTV camera.
