Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the Aam Aadmi Party government is aiming to bring a “healthy competition” as it is motivated to bring out an improved civic affair with the help of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

Govt teachers are being appreciated

The Delhi CM said prior to his foray into politics, he ran an NGO that worked with schools based in a slum cluster. Speaking on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti as she paid his maiden visit to the MCD, the chief minister said that the Delhi government schools used to have poor infrastructure and their teachers were met with heavy criticism.

He further said that today same teachers are being appreciated. In the next 2 years, teachers and sanitation workers with the MCD will bring change, he said.

Education important to remove poverty

He highlighted Dr Ambdekar’s role in lifting people out of poverty and bringing equality via his journey and writings.

“If we give good education to our children, only then can poverty be removed and an impact be created. After entering politics, even I have seen how good education can change an entire family,” he added.

“There should also be an award for best park, one for the best sanitation worker, sanitation inspector in each ward, among others. Many such awards will be instituted,” the CM added.
