Uttarakhand Assembly Session: Reservation granted to torchbearers of Uttarakhand Movement by CM Dhami cabinet

The Uttarakhand Assembly Session began on Monday, March 12, in Gairsain. Many important decisions were taken during this by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s cabinet. In the cabinet meeting held at Gairsain, a proposal was made to give 10 percent horizontal reservation in jobs to the torchbearers of Uttarakhand movement, which was approved by the cabinet.

Benefits to Uttarakhand movement mavericks

The state mavericks were not getting the benefit of 10 percent horizontal reservation in jobs since 2011. Earlier this bill was sent to Raj Bhavan for approval, but it was returned after some objection from Raj Bhavan. According to Ravindra Jugran, former president of Uttarakhand State Construction Andolankari Samman Parishad, he spoke to minister and sub-committee chairman Subodh Uniyal on this issue. The minister says that positive action will be taken on this in this session.

Jugran said, in the thousands of recruitment examinations held in the last 11 years, not a single recruitment has been done from the horizontal reservation quota. He said that the dependents of martyrs, revolutionaries injured in firing, jailed agitators and active agitators should have got this honour, but they did not get it.
