Uttarakhand News: Faulty earthing led to electrocution at Namami Gange project site, cites magisterial probeĀ 

Uttarakhand News: Sixteen people died of electrocution at a Namami Gange project site on the banks of the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhandā€™s Chamoli district on July 19. Now, a magisterial probe has unravelled shocking details. The treatment plant in Uttarakhandā€™s Chamoli has attributed the unfortunate incident to faulty earthing at the STP.Ā 

Report reveals negligence by joint ventures

A report was submitted to the state government on Sunday on the recent electrocution incident by Chamoli Additional District Magistrate Abhishek Tripathi. In the report, the DM held the joint venture companies responsible for the electrification system at the STP for violating the terms of their contract and neglecting safety norms. He also proposed cancelling their contracts while also recommending blacklisting them in Uttarakhand.Ā 

Ā Jai Bhushan Malik Contractors, Patiala (lead partner) and Confident Engineering India Private Limited, Coimbatore are these going venture firms.Ā 

Chamoli tragedyĀ 

Sixteen people died while seven were injured after being electrocuted at a Namami Gange project site in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. According to media reports, a security guard on duty at the location was first to come in contact with a faulty railing. One police sub-inspector and three home guards also lost their lives in the tragic incident.Ā
