Uttarakhand News: In the Nanakmatta nearby of Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand, on Thursday, unidentified assailants shot and killed Nanakmatta Gurudwara Kar Sewa Pramukh (leader) Baba Tarsem Singh. The police headquarters established a Special Investigation Team under the direction of DSP RB Chamola to look into the event and find the people who killed Nanakmatta Gurdwara Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh, according to Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar.

Formation of Special Investigation Team (SIT)

 “The SIT includes STF and police officers. An additional police force has been sent to maintain peace in the Nanakmatta area, appealing to the Sikh community to maintain peace,” DGP Kumar stated. Additionally, he said that the STF has been instructed to maintain the matter as their top priority and thoroughly investigate every angle. “We have to not only identify the assailants but also the bigger conspiracy behind this murder, if any,” he stated.

Timeline of Events

Speaking about the murder, the DGP said that the event was reported to the police at approximately seven in the morning. He claimed that two masked intruders shot at Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh after breaking into the Nanakmatta Gurudwara.

The gurudwara chief was then taken to a hospital in Khatima, where SDM Khatima Ravindra Singh Bisht said he was pronounced dead. According to DGP Kumar, senior officials, including the SSP, have arrived and the situation is really critical. “DIG Kumaon is also reaching there, he will inspect the scene of the crime and speak to the locals. He will try to assess the situation there,” he added.

Coordination with Central Agencies

DGP Kumar said that in order to obtain helpful information about the situation, the police team has also been in touch with central agencies. “I assure you that we will solve this matter soon and take strict action,” he added. Additionally, SDM Bisht said that the level of law and order in the Nanakmatta region is typical.
