In a significant move to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution in Dehradun, the approval for the construction of the Jhajhra-Asharodi 12.17 km link road has been granted. The proposed road, designed to be four lanes, will be entirely new, providing relief from traffic jams.

Key Features of the Project:

  1. Route and Connectivity:
The link road will commence near the RTO check post at Asharodi, traversing through rural and forested areas, ultimately connecting to the Dehradun-Paonta Sahib highway at Jhajhra.
  2. Infrastructure Development:
The road project includes the construction of bridges and flyovers as deemed necessary along the highway, enhancing connectivity and easing traffic flow.
  3. Bypass for Dehradun City:
The Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for the Central Government’s approval of ₹715.97 crore for the development of this crucial link road. The Chief Minister highlighted that the road would serve as a bypass for Dehradun city, mitigating congestion and pollution.
  4. Reducing City Entry for Specific Routes:
Once completed, the road will enable travelers from Delhi heading to Selaqui Industrial Area, Paonta Sahib, or the Ballupur area on the Doon side to bypass the city. Similarly, vehicles traveling from Paonta Sahib to Delhi via Dehradun will avoid entering Dehradun, alleviating additional traffic pressure on the city.

Chief Minister’s Appreciation:
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude for the approved funding and emphasized the positive impact of the link road on Dehradun’s traffic management and environmental concerns.

The Jhajhra-Asharodi Link Road project signifies a crucial step towards enhancing regional infrastructure, fostering smoother connectivity, and addressing urban traffic challenges in Dehradun.
