The government has introduced the Kisan Pension Yojana, a flagship scheme aimed at ensuring the financial well-being of farmers during their later years. This initiative is part of the broader effort to support the agricultural community and address the challenges faced by farmers after retirement.
Government Launches Kisan Pension Yojana to Support Farmers in Old Age
Under the Kisan Pension Yojana, farmers aged between 18 and 40 years can enroll to receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000 after turning 60. The scheme is contributory in nature, with farmers required to pay a nominal monthly contribution based on their age at the time of enrollment. The government matches the farmer's contribution, making it a shared investment in their future security.

The scheme also includes a provision for the farmer’s family in case of the beneficiary's untimely demise. If the farmer passes away before the age of 60, their spouse can continue to receive 50% of the pension amount as a family pension.
To ensure ease of access, the government has simplified the enrollment process, allowing farmers to register at Common Service Centers (CSCs) across the country or through the official online portal. Farmers need to provide basic documents such as Aadhaar, proof of age, and bank account details during the registration process.
The launch of the Kisan Pension Yojana has been welcomed by the farming community, with many praising it as a step toward securing their future. Speaking about the scheme, the Agriculture Minister said, "This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of our farmers. It ensures that they can live with dignity after years of hard work."
The Kisan Pension Yojana is expected to benefit millions of farmers, strengthening the social security net for one of the most critical sectors of the economy. For more information, farmers are encouraged to visit the official scheme website or contact their local authorities.
