Kedarnath Dham Yatra: In a significant update for Kedarnath Yatra pilgrims, starting today, September 15, 2024, eight helicopter companies will commence regular flights to Kedarnath. This expansion aims to provide greater convenience and speed for the pilgrimage, offering pilgrims a wider range of options. Previously, only two companies were operating flights from Guptkashi and Sersi. With this new arrangement, travelers will now have more choices, making the journey smoother and more efficient.
Expanded services to offer pilgrims more options, enhancing travel convenience and speed
So far, over 70,000 devotees have availed of the helicopter services. The introduction of additional services is expected to further ease travel to the Kedarnath shrine, catering to the growing demand for quicker and more comfortable journeys. The increased use of helicopter services highlights the rising number of pilgrims, and this expansion will also help reduce travel time significantly.
Advance Booking Required for Helicopter Services
Pilgrims are advised to plan their journey in advance and book their helicopter tickets early to secure a seat. The expansion of services is expected to make the Kedarnath Yatra even more popular, offering enhanced facilities for reaching the holy site. For more information and bookings, travelers can visit the official website.
These helicopters will operate from various locations such as Guptkashi, Mehkanda, Jamu, and Sersi. Previously, most companies had suspended operations after the first phase of the yatra, between June 20 and July 3, due to the monsoon season. However, Himalayan Heli and Trans Bharat companies continued flights during that period. Since the Kedarnath temple opened its doors on May 10, more than 70,000 pilgrims have visited the shrine via helicopter, with over 69,000 returning after completing their pilgrimage.
