As one of India’s most revered Hindu pilgrimage destinations, Kedarnath is all set to welcome lakhs of devotees with the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra 2025. Nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, the sacred temple of Lord Shiva will reopen its doors in early May 2025, after a six-month winter closure due to heavy snowfall.
The Uttarakhand government and the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) have made extensive preparations to ensure a safe, smooth, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience for all yatris.
Opening Dates for Char Dham Yatra 2025:
Yamunotri – May 10
Gangotri – May 10
Kedarnath – May 10
Badrinath – May 12
The opening date for Kedarnath was finalised as per Hindu Panchang calculations on Maha Shivratri. A ceremonial procession of Baba Kedarnath (the idol of Lord Shiva) will be carried from Ukhimath to the main shrine ahead of the reopening.
