According to officials, the highest number of registrations were recorded for the shrine of Kedarnath Temple. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and located in the Garhwal Himalayas, remains one of the most visited destinations of the Char Dham circuit every year.
Char Dham Yatra consists of four prominent shrines
The sacred Char Dham Yatra consists of four prominent shrines—Yamunotri Temple, Gangotri Temple, Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple. Pilgrims undertake the journey through the Himalayan region to seek spiritual blessings and participate in traditional rituals at these revered temples.
Officials from the state government said the online registration system has been strengthened to manage the increasing number of pilgrims, ensure better crowd management and maintain safety during the yatra season. Registration is mandatory for devotees planning to visit the shrines.
Authorities have also made several arrangements to facilitate pilgrims, including improved transportation routes, better medical facilities, and enhanced disaster management systems along the pilgrimage route. These steps are aimed at ensuring a safe and smooth experience for visitors travelling to the high-altitude temples.
Tourism and pilgrimage activities linked to the Char Dham Yatra play a crucial role in the local economy. Thousands of people in hill districts depend on the yatra season for employment through hotels, transport services, shops, and other tourism-related businesses.
With such a strong response on the first day itself, officials expect the number of registrations to increase steadily in the coming days as devotees from across India prepare to undertake one of the country’s most significant spiritual journeys.
