Tiger Ambush in Uttarakhand’s Boon Forest: Women’s Heroic Intervention

In a gripping incident in the Boon forest range of Champawat district, Uttarakhand, two women showcased extraordinary bravery as they fought off a tiger that had attacked their friend, Geeta Devi. While gathering fodder, Geeta fell victim to the tiger, prompting her companions, Janki Devi and Parvati Devi, to swiftly respond. The tiger dragged Geeta into the forest, but the two women fought back fiercely, using sticks, sickles, and stones to force the big cat to retreat. Geeta, severely injured, was rushed to a Tanakpur hospital, where she is now in stable condition.

Rescue Efforts and Heroic Actions

Geeta Devi, who suffered head injuries during the tiger attack, received 24 stitches at the Tanakpur hospital, where she is currently recuperating. Dr. Mohammad Aftab Alam confirmed that Geeta is now out of danger but has been referred to a higher medical center in Haldwani for additional examinations and treatment. Forest ranger Gulzar Hussain praised the courage and quick thinking of Janki and Parvati, emphasizing the need for caution in the area and intensifying patrols to prevent further encounters.

Precautionary Measures and Forest Authorities’ Response

As a precautionary measure, forest authorities have advised local villagers to refrain from entering the jungle in the coming days. The presence of a tiger in the area has been confirmed, prompting increased patrolling to ensure the safety of residents. The incident highlights the delicate balance between wildlife and human interactions, urging communities to exercise caution in regions where such encounters are possible.
