In a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, several significant decisions were taken to address various aspects of governance and public welfare. One notable approval is the introduction of the ‘Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana,’ aiming to connect 3177 villages with populations less than 250 to main roads, enhancing accessibility and connectivity.
Key Decisions and Initiatives:
- Teacher Recruitment on Inspection Basis: The Secondary Education Department has received permission to hire assistant teachers and lecturers on a per-inspection basis. The initiative is expected to see the recruitment of 1500 to 2000 such teachers.
- Kanyadhan Yojana Benefits: The Cabinet decided to extend benefits to 35088 daughters who were previously excluded from the ‘Kanyadhan Yojana’ despite their applications from 2009 to 2016-17. Each beneficiary will receive an amount of Rs 15,000, with a total expenditure of Rs 52 crore 63 lakh.
- Establishment of Excellent Schools: The government plans to set up 559 excellent schools in the state to provide modern and quality education to students. The selection criteria include proximity, with schools within a 15 km radius of government high schools and government inter colleges. An allocation of Rs 240 crore has been earmarked for this initiative.
- Incentive Policy for Helipad Construction: The cabinet approved an incentive policy for constructing helipads on private land where government land is unavailable. The policy entails a 50 percent grant for helipad construction, and land can also be provided on lease.
- Introduction of Virtual Registry Policy: The cabinet gave the green light to the Virtual Registry Policy, allowing online property registration from the comfort of one’s home. This move aims to streamline and facilitate the registration process.
- Posts Approval for Medical Colleges: The cabinet sanctioned 950-950 posts for the operation of 100-100 MBBS trainee capacities in the upcoming medical colleges in Pithoragarh and Haridwar.
- User Charge for Driving Licence: The transport department will now collect a user charge of Rs 100 from applicants for driving licences in the state, following the cabinet’s approval. This measure introduces a nominal fee for obtaining a driving licence.
