The list of officials undergoing removal also encompasses prominent bureaucrats such as BrihanMumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, along with Additional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners.

This strategic reshuffling comes as preparations intensify for the Lok Sabha polls scheduled to be conducted in seven phases, starting from April 19, with the results slated to be announced on June 4. Consequently, the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been initiated following the Election Commission’s announcement on Friday.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has urged all political parties

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has urged all political parties and their leaders to strictly adhere to the MCC, a comprehensive set of guidelines delineating permissible and impermissible conduct for parties and leaders in the run-up to elections. Notably, the MCC prohibits the government from making any policy announcements during this period.

The MCC, formulated by the ECI, serves as a regulatory framework governing the conduct of political parties and candidates prior to elections. It encompasses a wide array of regulations, including guidelines regarding speeches, polling procedures, campaign content, and overall behavior, aimed at facilitating free and fair elections.

The proactive measures undertaken by the Election Commission underscore its commitment to ensuring transparent and impartial electoral processes, thereby upholding the democratic principles integral to the nation’s governance.
