Uttarakhand News: ESIC to Establish New Hospitals and Dispensaries in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Gujarat

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has announced plans to establish nine new hospitals in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, along with 17 new dispensaries in Gujarat. This decision was made during the 192nd meeting of the ESIC, chaired by Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav, with the presence of Minister of State for Labor and Employment Rameshwar Teli.

Expansion of Healthcare Infrastructure:

  • The initiative is part of the ESI scheme, aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services.
  • ESIC approved the proposal to develop the ESIC Hospital in Andheri, Maharashtra, into a 500-bed multi-specialty facility.

Geographical Expansion:

  • The new hospitals will be strategically located in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, addressing the healthcare needs of the respective regions.
  • Additionally, 17 new dispensaries will be established in Gujarat to expand primary healthcare services.

Enhancements to Benefits:

  • ESIC approved proposals to increase the basic rate of Permanent Disability Benefit (PDB) and Dependent Benefit (DB) to counteract the impact of inflation.
  • PDB, payable monthly up to 90 percent of the salary, will see an increase, providing improved financial support.
  • In cases of death due to occupational hazards at work, DB at the rate of 90 percent of the salary will be provided as a monthly payment to the dependents of the insured person.

Capacity Enhancement:

  • The decision includes increasing the bed capacity in ESIC hospitals located in Bibwewadi, Maharashtra, and Rourkela, Odisha, catering to the rising demand for healthcare services.

This expansion plan reflects ESIC’s commitment to strengthening healthcare facilities and benefits, contributing to improved medical services for beneficiaries across different regions.
