Uttarakhand Weather Update: Pre-monsoon rains continue to lash Uttarakhand, with the Meteorological Center issuing a special warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in most areas of the state from Thursday through June 29. Another round of heavy rainfall is expected on July 2 and 3, with an orange alert in effect during this period.

Weather Updates

On Wednesday, intermittent rainfall was observed throughout the day in Dehradun and other hilly districts, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures. This weather pattern is expected to persist on Thursday. The monsoon is anticipated to arrive in Uttarakhand anytime between Friday and Sunday evening.

Temperature Drop

Light to moderate rainfall in areas including Dehradun, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, and Tehri has resulted in a temperature decrease of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius. Dehradun's Asharodi recorded 16.9 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, while Tehri's Narendra Nagar saw the highest rainfall at 65 mm. Other notable figures include 46.2 mm in Jolly Grant, 22 mm in Rishikesh, and 21.2 mm in Nainital.

Alerts and Warnings

Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Center, stated that a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for almost all districts. Following this, a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been issued for July 2 and 3. The monsoon is expected to officially arrive in Uttarakhand within the next two to three days.

  • Udham Singh Nagar: Maximum 31.6°C, Minimum 27.4°C
  • Mukteshwar: Maximum 20.6°C, Minimum 16.8°C
  • Tehri: Maximum 24.4°C, Minimum 18.0°C

Residents are advised to stay updated with weather reports and take necessary precautions as heavy rains are expected to continue, potentially leading to disruptions and waterlogging in various parts of the state.
