8 Years of Yogi Adityanath Government: A Transformational Era for Women in Uttar Pradesh

As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh completes eight years, the state has witnessed remarkable progress in various sectors, particularly in women’s empowerment, law and order, and social welfare. According to Aparna Bisht Yadav, Vice Chairperson of the UP Women Commission and BJP leader, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has brought about a paradigm shift in UP’s governance, ensuring safety, security, and opportunities for women.

She stated, “There has been an amazing transformation in the past eight years... CM Yogi Adityanath has done commendable work for women empowerment, law and order, infrastructure… There is a rule of law in UP now.”

Key Initiatives for Women's Welfare

The Yogi government has introduced and strengthened multiple schemes aimed at uplifting women and ensuring their safety and financial independence. Some of the notable initiatives include:

Pink Booths and Women Helpline – Special security booths and helplines dedicated to women’s safety have been established, ensuring quick response to distress calls and crime prevention.

Mission Shakti – Launched to empower and educate women, this program provides legal aid, self-defense training, and awareness campaigns across the state.

Kanya Sumangala Yojana – A financial assistance scheme that supports the education and well-being of girl children, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder their growth.

Women Safety Squads and Anti-Romeo Squads – Special police teams patrol public spaces, working to prevent harassment and ensure a secure environment for women and girls.

Improved Law and Order – With a zero-tolerance policy towards crime against women, the Yogi administration has strengthened the policing system, leading to a significant decline in crimes like eve-teasing, harassment, and domestic violence.

A Shift in Social Ideology

Aparna Bisht Yadav also emphasized that UP has moved away from its past conservative mindset under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. The state has embraced modern reforms, empowering women through education, employment opportunities, and self-reliance programs.

With a focus on gender equality, the government continues to introduce measures that bridge the gap between men and women in various sectors.
