He said: “Happy Chhath Mahaparva, or as we say in Bhojpuri, Jai Chhathi Maiya and the rest I learned, expressed heartily and warmly to all devotees and inhabitants of the State, this our sacred festival, where worshipping is the most divine, and we can gaze as well as bare witness to the magical sights of Lord Bhaskar the soul of the Universe rising and setting. Hence, reaffirming our unbroken and enduring faith in the powers of motherhood and of the never-ending devotion of humanity’s collective consciousness. May this extraordinary and remarkable festival, consisting of the most eternal fragrance of gratefulness towards social unity, from the life-giving form of Nature, illuminate everyone’s lives, with a dazzling light of happiness and prosperity! ”

The Chief Minister expressed and reflected the spirit and culture of Chhath, which is always grounded and intertwined with gratitude, purity, and devotion.

Today’s Sandhya Arghya: Significance and Devotion

Sandhya Arghya, the evening offering to the setting sun, is one of the most important ritual practices of Chhath Puja. Devotees gather on the banks of rivers and water bodies and pray and offer arghya (holy water) to the Sun God, gathered with the chant of hymns. It expresses thankfulness in honour of life, health, and prosperity.

The women fasting and engaging in the Nirjala Vrat (fast without water) performed barefoot, standing in water while asking for the wellness of their family and longevity of life. The atmosphere was tranquil, highlighting the devotion in the air with bhajans being sung and diyas lit, rooted in faith in nature and divine energy.

Puja Vidhi and Shubh Muhurat for Chhath Puja 2025

According to Hindu tradition, Chhath puja is celebrated over four days – Nahay-Khay, Kharna, Sandhya Arghya, and Usha Arghya. It involves devotees fasting, bathing in holy rivers, and praying to Lord Surya and Chathhi Maiyya.

In the year 2025, we will perform the Sandhya Arghya today at 5:21 PM, while the Usha Arghya (morning offering) will be decorated tomorrow at 6:13 AM. Festivities involve traditional delicacies like thekua and kheer, honoring both purity and devotion toward the Sun God.

As the completion of Chhath approaches, millions of all faiths have offered prayers for prosperity in wealth and health, while harmony and the eternal spirit of Chhathi Maiyya’s blessings continue.
