Ghaziabad police laid a trap near the Nithari Road railway underpass following credible tip-offs. As a suspicious bike approached the cordoned area, officers signalled it to stop. However, the suspects unleashed chaos, firing wildly at the police team while attempting a high-speed escape.
The bike skidded left, but the assailants didn’t relent. They opened fire again, striking Head Constables Vipin Thakur and Sachin Kumar with bullets. A third shot struck Sub-Inspector Nitin Chaudhary’s bulletproof jacket, sparing him serious injury. With lives on the line, police retaliated in self-defence.
Surendra Nath Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural), Ghaziabad remarked one suspect took two bullets. Rushed to a nearby hospital, Zeeshan succumbed during treatment. His partner vanished into the night, but police vow a relentless hunt.
