Like every year, this time too, grand preparations are underway in Varanasi for the celebration of Dev Deepawali. This year’s festival is expected to be even more special and visually captivating, with the administration introducing new attractions and improved arrangements.
According to media reports, around 90% of hotels in the city are already booked, and people are paying significant amounts to reserve boats for viewing the celebrations from the Ganga. It is estimated that over 5 lakh (500,000) visitors will arrive in Varanasi for the festival, providing a strong boost to Uttar Pradesh’s tourism and local economy.
CM Yogi Adityanath Shares Key Information Before the Festival
Ahead of Dev Deepawali, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared an important update through a government post, stating:
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the able leadership of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, ‘New Kashi of New Uttar Pradesh’ will shine with the grandeur of faith, devotion, and development on the auspicious occasion of Dev Deepawali. Har Har Mahadev!”
When Will Dev Deepawali Be Celebrated?
Dev Deepawali is celebrated 15 days after Diwali, marking the occasion when it is believed that all gods descend to Earth to celebrate Diwali.
This year, the festival will be observed on November 5 with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervor.
The tourism department has set a goal of lighting 7 lakh earthen lamps (diyas) along the ghats of the Ganga River. The soaring demand for hotel rooms and boat rides has led to record-high booking prices this year as well.
The event symbolizes faith, divinity, and the cultural essence of Uttar Pradesh, making Varanasi the shining center of celebration once again.
