Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has appealed to the people of the state to observe the holy month of Shravan as a period of public welfare, environmental conservation, cleanliness, and community participation. In a public message, the Chief Minister highlighted the spiritual and cultural significance of the month while emphasizing the importance of protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable development.
CM Yogi Adityanath Urges People to Dedicate Shravan Month to Water Conservation
Describing Shravan as a sacred festival of collective harmony and respect for labour, Yogi Adityanath said the monsoon season symbolizes renewal in nature and reflects the hard work of farmers as fields turn green with prosperity. He noted that in Sanatan tradition, this natural transformation is closely associated with the worship of Lord Shiva, inspiring values of discipline, service, and social harmony.
Cleanliness and Environmental Protection
The Chief Minister said Lord Shiva represents harmony between humanity and nature. He explained that the River Ganga flowing through Shiva’s matted locks, the crescent moon on his forehead, the serpent around his neck, Nandi, and his companions all symbolize peaceful coexistence with the natural world.
Referring to the legend of Samudra Manthan, Yogi Adityanath said Lord Shiva’s act of consuming the deadly poison Halahal represents the highest sacrifice for the protection of creation. He added that the tradition of offering water to Lord Shiva reflects gratitude, selflessness, and commitment to public welfare.
Highlighting the beauty of the Shravan season, the Chief Minister said the arrival of monsoon rains after the intense summer months brings greenery, flowing rivers, the fragrance of wet soil, and renewed energy across villages and cities. He also mentioned that community feasts following paddy transplantation in rural areas represent the spirit of cooperation and shared culture, while large gatherings at Shiva temples promote service, cleanliness, and social participation.
