According to the Uttar Pradesh government, 17 districts in the state are among India’s top 100 districts for rooftop solar installations. Additionally, three districts have secured places among the top 15 nationwide, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s strong performance under the flagship solar initiative.

Lucknow has retained its position as India’s No. 1 district for rooftop solar installations, with 1,24,167 rooftop solar systems installed. The achievement reflects the city’s continued leadership in adopting clean and sustainable energy solutions.
Varanasi has secured the 10th position, while Kanpur Nagar ranks 14th among the top districts in the country for rooftop solar installations.
The state government said the growing adoption of rooftop solar systems is helping households reduce electricity costs while contributing to India’s renewable energy goals. Officials believe the success of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Uttar Pradesh is encouraging wider participation in sustainable energy initiatives.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to expanding clean energy infrastructure and promoting environmentally friendly development across the state.
