Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, met with six newly elected mayors on Friday and urged them to create “self-reliant” municipal corporations in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” vision.
An official release issued here stated that the Chief Minister also gave all the mayors instructions to improve the financial condition of the municipal corporations and address local problems in order to establish a favourable image of the municipal corporations.
He suggested enhancing the municipal tax as a means of raising revenue for the local bodies. He claimed that the average person must be able to conveniently pay his taxes and must be made aware of the significance of doing so.
The CM urged all mayors to take on “something good” and “something new,” urging them to prioritise solid and liquid waste management and underground cabling projects.
Additionally, he urged them to give the problem of stray dogs in cities significant emphasis. Adityanath gave the mayors instructions to communicate with and collaborate with the elected officials.
