CM Yogi praises Modi, says record production of foodgrains in UP proved farmers’ potential

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday claimed that farmers’ income has more than doubled since 2014 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a target for his government to achieve two-fold growth in farm income by 2022′.

The CM said that despite their dependence on nature, the farmers of UP have proved their mettle by producing food grains in record quantities and the welfare programs launched by the UP government and the Center have helped in increasing the income of the farmers.

The Chief Minister was speaking during an event organized to distribute high-yield seed kits to mark the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyay, in Lucknow. Talking about the welfare schemes launched for farmers in the state, Adityanath said that the government is running a campaign to spread the word about them. He directed the officers of the Agriculture Department to organize camps in every district and propagate government schemes for the farmers.

CM said – Even when the world was added by Covid, the condition of the agriculture sector was strong.

Chief Minister also distributed ‘Meri Niti-Mera Hath’ certificates to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and acceptance letters for installing solar irrigation pumps to the beneficiaries of PM Kusum Yojana. In addition, he flagged off 21 tractors for agriculture sectors.

He said the BJP’s “double engine government” stands with Annadata. Adityanath also said that when the world was in the grip of the Covid-19 pandemic, the agriculture sector stood firm here.

He said, “There were some concerns regarding standing wheat crops, but I assured the farmers that they would get combine machines. The officials were directed to set up the COVID helpdesk and help the farmers to harvest the crops and take them to the purchasing centres.”

The Chief Minister said- “During the pandemic, sugar mills remained closed in the country and the world. However, all the 119 sugar mills in the state were operational. Trade stopped, traffic was disrupted, but there was a working community of farmers. He provided ration to everyone without any discrimination. It is the result of their hard work that no one died of hunger during the pandemic.”
