The ambitious 91-km NH-148A high-speed corridor, designed to offer a seamless link from the DND Flyway to Sohna and further to the Noida International Airport in Jewar, has entered its final stage of construction. As per a Times of India report, officials expect the project to be fully completed within the next four months.
The corridor—envisioned as a major alternative to Delhi’s heavily congested national routes—will significantly ease traffic for commuters traveling between Delhi, Faridabad, Noida, and multiple inter-state destinations.
An official involved in the project said, “It will provide a crucial alternative to overloaded national routes and ease traffic flow between Delhi, Faridabad and Noida, and also to several key inter-state destinations.”
Noida International Airport: Key Construction Updates
- Delhi Side Progress:
- The Ashram-bound ramp of the DND Flyway is almost complete.
- Work is ongoing on the Sarai Kale Khan–bound ramp.
- Kalindi Kunj Section:
- Rapid progress on the arch bridge over the Agra Canal.
- Main Stretch:
- The corridor from DND Flyway to Sohna is in the advanced finishing stage.
While NHAI is leading the construction, the Delhi government is working simultaneously on various procedural approvals. During a recent high-level review meeting chaired by CM Rekha Gupta and Union minister Nitin Gadkari, NHAI confirmed the project is nearing completion.
Route and Alignment
The NH-148A covers:
- 59 km from DND Flyway → Kalindi Kunj → Faridabad → Ballabgarh → NH-19 → Sohna → Mohna
- 32 km spur directly connecting the corridor to Jewar Airport
This design anticipates the traffic spike expected once the Noida International Airport becomes operational.
₹7,084-Crore Mega Project to Transform NCR Traffic
The multi-stage expressway aims to decongest several of Delhi’s busiest arterial roads, especially benefiting commuters from North and East Delhi. The corridor will:
- Improve connectivity to Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and the upcoming Jewar Airport
- Strengthen interstate links towards Jaipur, Mumbai, and Kolkata via the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway
- Reduce load on NH-2 and NH-48, easing long-standing congestion
Once operational, the corridor is expected to dramatically cut travel time to Noida International Airport while boosting economic activity across Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and the wider NCR region.
