Ghaziabad News: In a major step towards enhancing religious infrastructure in Ghaziabad, the construction of the Dudheshwar Nath Temple Corridor has officially begun. Known for its massive footfall during the holy month of Sawan, the Dudheshwar Nath Temple witnesses thousands of devotees daily, leading to overcrowding and congestion in the area. To resolve this, the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has greenlit a transformative project that involves relocating over 40 shops to make way for a spacious temple corridor.
Let’s dive into the key details of this ambitious project and understand how the locals will benefit from the development.
Dudheshwar Nath Temple Corridor: Inspired by Kashi and Ujjain Models
The proposed Dudheshwar Nath Temple Corridor in Ghaziabad will follow the architectural and functional blueprint of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and Mahakaleshwar Corridor. Given the spiritual importance of the Dudheshwar Nath Temple, the project aims to enhance the temple’s surroundings, boost religious tourism and provide better facilities to pilgrims.
Officials hope the corridor will:
- Make movement easier during peak times like Sawan
- Attract more tourists to Ghaziabad
- Beautify the temple premises
- Improve civic infrastructure around the temple
Over 40 Shops Set to Be Relocated in Ghaziabad
As per the latest Ghaziabad news, more than 40 shops located around the Dudheshwar Nath Temple are slated for removal. In total, around 55 commercial establishments will be affected. The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has already begun the process of identifying and contacting these shop owners.
Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Malik confirmed: “We have asked the shop owners to submit their ownership documents within 15 to 20 days. Some shops are legal, while others are either rented or undocumented.”
New Location for Shop Owners
The displaced shops won’t be left without options. In a proactive move, the Municipal Corporation has proposed relocating these businesses to Hindon Vihar, approximately 2.5 km from the temple area. This was officially decided in the board meeting held in March.
While this shift may be disruptive initially, it offers the possibility of:
- Better organised commercial zones
- Reduced congestion near the temple
- Long-term business opportunities due to better infrastructure
Locals to Benefit from Corridor Project in Multiple Ways
The Dudheshwar Nath Temple Corridor isn't just about improving temple access. It brings several local benefits to the people of Ghaziabad:
Religious Tourism Boost
With improved access and aesthetics, more devotees and tourists are likely to visit, creating more demand for local products and services.
Improved Traffic Flow and Cleanliness
Removing shops and building organised pathways will reduce chaos and improve sanitation in the temple surroundings.
Infrastructure Growth
The corridor may attract further investment in nearby areas, boosting property value and improving amenities for locals.
