Greater Noida Metro News: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation has been urged by the central government to prepare a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) so it doesn’t end up overlapping the Namo Bharat route to Noida Airport.
Greater Noida Metro News-What’s New?
The Central Government has ordered the NMRC to revise the DPR for the metro project in Greater Noida West. The decision was made after a proposal to run Namo Bharat from Greater Noida to Noida Airport was made.
DON'T MISS
For many years, the residents of Greater Noida have been requesting the district officials and metro authorities to move the metro project at a faster speed.
The revised proposed stations are Sector 61, sector 70, sector 122, sector 123 and sector 4 (near Kisan Chowk in Greater Noida West).
The biggest reason behind the revision is to prevent duplication between metro and rapid rail networks. The Namo Bharat is designed for high-speed, long-distance travel, while metro systems cater to shorter, urban commutes. Aligning both systems smartly ensures optimal usage. The next step is the preparation and approval of the revised DPR by NMRC. Once approved, the project will move into the tendering and construction phases.
Given the central government’s involvement and the strategic importance of connecting to Noida International Airport, the project is expected to gain momentum in the coming months.
Why Does The Change Matter?
The decision to revise the Greater Noida West metro route marks a critical shift in urban transport planning. By aligning metro expansion with the Namo Bharat corridor, authorities are aiming for a more integrated, efficient and future-ready transit system.
While the reduction in stations may seem like a compromise, it could ultimately result in faster completion and better resource utilization. For residents who have waited years for metro connectivity, the hope now is that this revised plan finally turns into reality without further delays.
