In a major development to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Delhi and Noida, the preliminary feasibility report for the proposed elevated road from Gautam Buddh Nagar to Delhi’s inner sector has been released. Contrary to earlier plans, the elevated stretch will now begin around 100 metres ahead of the Rajnigandha underpass near Sector 19, instead of the DND Flyway, and will extend up to Sector 57.
The report has been forwarded to IIT Roorkee for evaluation, following which the Greater Noida Authority will appoint a consultant to finalize the project plan, prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR), and complete necessary paperwork. Once these stages are complete, the tendering and construction process will begin.
Key Sectors Set to Benefit from the Elevated Road
As per officials, this realignment aims to bypass structural limitations caused by an existing metro line on DSC Road, making construction above it unviable. The revised route from Sector 19 to Sector 57 is expected to significantly improve access to several important areas.
The sectors that will benefit the most include:
Sector 57
Sector 58
Sector 59
Sector 65
Mamura
Surrounding industrial and residential zones
The Delhi-Noida commute, which currently takes about 30 minutes, is expected to come down to just 10 minutes after the elevated corridor is completed.
Project Cost Estimated at ₹400 Crore
The DPR estimates the total cost of construction at ₹400 crore. Officials believe the new corridor will provide signal-free access and significantly reduce daily traffic woes for commuters traveling from Delhi to Noida's eastern sectors.
The initial project budget has been pegged at ₹400 crore, according to figures included in the DPR. The elevated corridor will feature modern engineering designs, sound barriers, and LED lighting, and is expected to handle high volumes of commuter and local traffic once completed.
This infrastructure project is a part of the broader vision to modernize Noida's urban landscape and integrate Delhi-NCR more seamlessly. Officials also hope this corridor will reduce vehicular load on internal roads, improve air quality, and boost real estate and commercial activity in the benefiting sectors.
