Uttar Pradesh is stepping up efforts to attract Japanese investment, with Greater Noida emerging as a key focus. CM Yogi Adityanath is pitching the state for investments in manufacturing, technology, infrastructure, and green energy.

Japan City Planned Near Noida International Airport

A dedicated Japan City is planned across around 500 acres in the YEIDA region, offering Japanese companies space for investment and industrial activity. Its proximity to Noida International Airport could further support manufacturing, logistics, and business operations.

Yogi Adityanath’s Japan Investment Push

During his Japan visit, CM Yogi Adityanath invited Japanese companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting its market, workforce, and infrastructure. The state says the visit led to investment MoUs worth around ₹90,000 crore across manufacturing, auto components, electronics, and other sectors.

Which Sectors May See a Boost?

  • Vehicles and Parts

Firms such as Escorts Kubota, Minda Corporation and Toyo Denso are amongst those being considered for investment, contributing towards the automotive manufacturing capabilities of UP.

  • Electronics and Semiconductors

Advanced electronics and semiconductors manufacturing sectors are areas in which Japan can invest in UP.

  • Green Energy

UP is also looking at the possibility of partnering with Japan in green energy and hydrogen.

  • Digital Infrastructure

Sectors such as data centers and digital infrastructure are being considered for attracting investment from Japan.

  • Manufacturing and Logistics

Greater Noida and YEIDA are likely to gain from manufacturing and logistics operations owing to their developing infrastructure and proximity to airports.

What Could This Mean for Greater Noida?

If these investments become operational, Greater Noida and the YEIDA region could see more industries, stronger supply chains, and new jobs. The Japan City is also part of UP’s broader plan to attract global companies and support its $1 trillion economy goal.

Japan-India Partnership Gets a Local Industrial Angle

The partnership goes beyond investment, focusing on technology, skill development and stronger supply chains. For Greater Noida, the proposed Japan City and upcoming airport could make the region more attractive to Japanese manufacturing and technology companies.
