Police in Mainpuri have busted a major fake army recruitment scam. Two key accused, Arvind Kumar Pandey and Sumitra Senapati, were arrested for cheating over 400 youths. They promised jobs in the Indian military but gave only low-paying security guard roles. Police seized fake documents, uniforms, ID cards, and other materials used to run the racket.
The Kishani police station, with help from a surveillance team, uncovered the fake training centre near Bidhuna crossing. The accused charged Rs 2 to 3 lakh from each victim by misleading them into believing they would get government or army jobs.
Mainpuri Fake Army Recruitment Scam Exposed
According to Superintendent of Police Ganesh Prasad Saha, “They used fake documents and uniforms to lure the youths. Many victims came from Telangana, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Odisha.”
Arvind Pandey claimed to be a retired army captain and doctor. He used the national emblem, fake medical certificates, lease agreements, and rubber stamps to make his scam look real.
Pandey had a history of fraud, including schemes involving a toothpaste brand and a Miss India contest. His gang operated across several states, with similar fake centres in Noida and Uttarakhand.
The scam came to light after a Telangana youth complained to the police. The investigation revealed that around 300 to 400 people were cheated, and efforts continue to identify all victims.
Further Investigation Underway
Police have charged the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Indian National Emblem Act, and the Private Security Agencies Regulation Act. Both Pandey and Senapati were presented in court. Authorities are still searching for other gang members and preparing a full list of those affected.
