Maulana Sajid Rashidi stated, “To maintain harmony, brotherhood, and unity in the country, on behalf of the All India Imam Association, I want to appeal to all Indians, especially in those places where Hindus are in majority, we can delay our Jumma namaz. Instead of doing our namaz at 1 pm, we can schedule it at 2:30 pm so that Holi celebrations conclude peacefully. There can be some disturbing elements on both sides that can create problems; I urge everyone to beware of them... I urge all Imams to delay namaz by a few hours.”

Keeping this in mind, and to maintain the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb of our country, the Islamic Centre of India Firangi Mahal, Lucknow, has issued an advisory and appealed to all Muslims and Masjid Committees, that the Jumma namaz, which is scheduled for 12:30 pm- 1 pm, be rescheduled to one hour later so that those who celebrate Holi do not face any problem, and those who go out for Namaz, stay away from colours.”

“Holi, Diwali are traditions that we have followed since childhood. We have happily played Holi since childhood...I play Holi with Sadhus today. These are different times. People of Ayodhya step out and play Holi together. Both Hindus and Muslims do it. We have no reservations about colours,” said Iqbal Ansari, dismissing any controversy regarding the festival.
CO Anuj Chaudhary’s Firm Stand on Holi and Jumma Namaz
Sambhal CO Anuj Chaudhary’s original statement that sparked this debate was firm and direct. He remarked, “Jumma (Friday prayers) occurs 52 times a year, but Holi comes only once. If the Muslim community feels that Holi colors will interfere with their religious practices, they should stay indoors that day.”
