The much-awaited Noida International Airport is set for its grand inauguration on March 28, 2026, with final preparations in full swing and the first look revealing near-complete infrastructure. The greenfield airport project in Jewar is poised to become a major aviation hub in northern India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the airport, a date earlier संकेतित by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during a public event in Lucknow. The Chief Minister had confirmed that the Prime Minister had been invited to formally open the ambitious project.

Noida International Airport: Major boost to NCR connectivity

Located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, the airport is expected to significantly ease congestion at Indira Gandhi International Airport while enhancing regional and international connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR). The project is also anticipated to drive economic growth by boosting sectors such as logistics, real estate, tourism, and employment generation.

Capacity and operations

In its initial phase, the airport will operate with one runway and is expected to handle around 1.20 crore passengers annually. As per the Uttar Pradesh government, nearly 150 flights are likely to operate daily once services commence, marking a major step forward in India’s aviation infrastructure expansion.

Economic and developmental impact

Officials believe that the operationalization of the Jewar airport will transform the region into a key investment and business corridor. Improved connectivity is expected to attract industries, generate large-scale employment, and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a growing economic powerhouse.

With the countdown to March 28 underway, the Noida International Airport stands as one of the most significant infrastructure projects in recent years, reflecting India’s rapid progress in aviation and regional development.
