A Pakistani MP has caused a stir online after praising Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s governance style during a heated budget session in Pakistan’s parliament. This unusual admiration came while Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced a 7% cut in government spending in the country’s 2025–26 federal budget.
The video of the MP’s remarks quickly went viral in both India and Pakistan. In the clip, the lawmaker compared Pakistan’s entire national budget to the budget of one Indian state—Uttar Pradesh. Many social media users in India saw it as an unexpected endorsement of the “Yogi model,” while others in Pakistan questioned their own government’s performance.
During the session, the MP said, “Pakistan ka kul budget 62 billion dollar hai, jabki Uttar Pradesh ka budget 97 billion dollar hai.”
He added, “Pakistan ka kul tax revenue 50 billion dollar hai, jabki Uttar Pradesh ka tax revenue 80 billion dollar hai.” His comparison sparked loud reactions, both online and in political circles.
The lawmaker’s remarks highlighted a surprising reality that a single Indian state reportedly collects more taxes and spends more than the entire Pakistani government. He ended his comment with, “India humara dushman hai, par…”, suggesting that even a rival nation’s progress can’t be ignored.

In India, users on X (formerly Twitter) were quick to call it a “public endorsement” of Yogi Adityanath’s style of governance. One user wrote, “Even Pakistan knows UP is ahead.” Another posted, “Yogi model = results.”
This isn’t the first time Uttar Pradesh’s governance has been discussed outside India. Adityanath’s push for infrastructure and economic development often finds mention in debates around Indian growth. However, the clip gained attention because it came from across the border and during a budget session.
In Pakistan, the MP’s words have added more heat to the ongoing criticism of government cuts and poor fiscal management.
