Prayagraj: UP ATS arrests wanted fake currency smuggler

Prayagraj: Anti-Tetror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday arrested a wanted smuggler of fake currency notes from Prayagraj and seized fake Indian currency of Rs 1 lakh from his possession.

According to UP ATS, Deepak Mandal, a significant source of fake currency supplied from Pakistan over the Bangladeshi border was found in the Prayagraj neighbourhood of Shahganj. In a fake note supply case that was filed in Shahganj, Prayagraj, he is carrying a prize of Rs 25,000. Deepak is from West Bengal’s Malda Town.

According to UP ATS, Deepak Mandal and his crew are in charge of smuggling fake currency made in Pakistan through West Bengal’s Malda region, which is close to the India-Bangladesh border, to several Indian states.

Recovered counterfeit money is skillfully disguised with a watermark and an RBI stripe to resemble real notes.

For a long time, UP ATS was keeping an eye on this gang. Deepak had travelled to Prayagraj’s Shahganj Police Station location to distribute fake currency. Other gang members are being searched for arrest.
