Saharanpur Toilet Shocker: Govt. suspends District Sports Officer after the video goes viral

Saharanpur Toilet Shocker: The Uttar Pradesh government’s Sports Directorate has suspended Animesh Saxena, the regional sports officer for Saharanpur. A video had earlier surfaced showing food prepared for female kabaddi players competing in a state tournament, lying inside a bathroom.

Videos of players getting their food from the bathroom had surfaced online. In these videos, players are seen carrying plates and containers filled with rice into the bathroom, where there may have been germs and other contaminants that may have intoxicated the food.

Animesh’s ban was notified in a letter from the Sports Directorate.”The Chief Secretary of Sports Department made aware through a letter that photos of food meant for kabaddi players participating in an event held in Saharanpur being found in a toilet have surfaced on social media, causing immense slander against the department and the government. It seems that regional officials and stakeholders’ defective operations led to this incident and the Chief Secretary instructed for strict action against Regional Sports Officer, Saharanpur, Animesh Saxena,” read the letter.

The letter further stated that Animesh was pressed for an explanation of this incident but he was unable to do so. So, in accordance with the Uttar Pradesh Government Servant (Discipline and Appeal) Rule, 1999, he was suspended.

Authorities react to the incident

Following the incident, Additional District Magistrate Rajnish Kumar Mishra said, “I saw through social media that food was served to players in unhygienic conditions. In this matter, the District Magistrate has asked me to submit a report in three days. Whatever facts will come to light in my report, I will submit them to the DM.”
