Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has made a ₹100 crore provision in the Supplementary Budget 2026–27 to compensate the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) for implementing the scheme.
Free Bus Travel Scheme for Women Aged 60 and Above
According to the government, the financial allocation has been earmarked as reimbursement for the free travel facility, ensuring that eligible senior women can benefit from the initiative without affecting the operational finances of the state transport system.
The proposed scheme aims to improve mobility for elderly women by making public transportation more accessible and affordable. Free bus travel is expected to help beneficiaries travel for medical appointments, religious visits, family engagements, and other essential purposes without bearing transportation costs.
