UP CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh has received a major boost in railway infrastructure with a ₹20,012 crore allocation in the Railway Budget for 2026–27, aimed at strengthening connectivity, accelerating ongoing projects, and supporting the state’s long-term development goals. The allocation is among the highest for any state and reflects the growing focus on Uttar Pradesh as a key transport and logistics hub.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while welcoming the development, stated that such initiatives will give fresh momentum to the progress of a “New Uttar Pradesh” and help the state contribute effectively to the vision of a developed India by 2047.

CM Yogi Adityanath: ₹92,000 Crore Railway Projects Underway
According to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, railway projects worth nearly ₹92,000 crore are currently at various stages of implementation across Uttar Pradesh. These include track doubling, electrification, station redevelopment, new railway lines, and capacity enhancement of existing routes.
Officials said the ongoing works are expected to significantly reduce travel time, improve passenger convenience, and strengthen freight movement across the state.
Bullet Train Corridors to Transform Connectivity
Among the key highlights of the railway roadmap for Uttar Pradesh are proposed high-speed bullet train corridors, including Delhi–Varanasi and Varanasi–Siliguri routes. These corridors are expected to transform long-distance travel, enhance regional integration, and support tourism and economic activity along the routes.
Railway authorities noted that feasibility assessments and preparatory work for high-speed rail projects will play a crucial role in modernising India’s rail transport network.
Boost to Economy, Employment and Regional Development
The expanded railway investment is expected to generate large-scale employment opportunities, both directly through construction activities and indirectly through allied sectors such as logistics, manufacturing, and tourism. Improved rail connectivity will also benefit farmers, small businesses, and industries by ensuring faster and more cost-effective transportation.
Special focus is being placed on linking industrial corridors, pilgrimage centres, and border regions to ensure balanced regional growth within the state.

With sustained investment in railways, Uttar Pradesh is positioning itself as a central pillar in India’s infrastructure expansion. Officials said modern rail infrastructure will support urbanisation, ease congestion on roads, and contribute to environmentally sustainable transport solutions.
