CM Yogi Adityanath on Sunday highlighted the success of the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme, stating that lakhs of women in the state are becoming financially independent and contributing actively to nation-building under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Yogi Adityanath: Over 18.55 Lakh Women Become ‘Lakhpati Didis’
According to the Chief Minister, more than 35 lakh women have been identified under the scheme, out of which over 18.55 lakh have already achieved the status of ‘Lakhpati Didi’. The initiative focuses on enabling women to earn a sustainable annual income of at least ₹1 lakh through self-employment and skill-based activities.
The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme is a flagship initiative aimed at empowering women, especially those associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), by enabling them to earn a sustainable annual income of at least ₹1 lakh. Under the programme, women are provided with skill development training, financial assistance, and access to market opportunities to start or expand their own businesses.
Women Empowerment Driving ‘New Uttar Pradesh’
CM Yogi Adityanath said that empowered, capable, and self-reliant women are becoming the identity of a “New Uttar Pradesh.” He emphasised that the scheme is not only improving the economic condition of women but also strengthening their role in society and governance.
Focus on Self-Reliance and Skill Development
The ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative is aligned with the broader vision of women-led development, promoting entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and skill development at the grassroots level. Officials say the scheme is helping women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) to scale their income and become financially secure.
Boost to Rural Economy
Experts believe that the growing number of ‘Lakhpati Didis’ is also contributing to the rural economy by increasing household incomes and encouraging small-scale enterprises. The initiative is being seen as a key step towards inclusive growth and women empowerment in Uttar Pradesh.
With the steady rise in participation, the state government aims to further expand the scheme and bring more women under its ambit in the coming months.
