Good news has arrived for aspirants seeking government teaching jobs in Uttar Pradesh. According to a report by Hindustan, the Yogi Adityanath-led state government is set to fill 1,93,862 vacant teaching positions across the state. The move is expected to not only provide employment opportunities to eligible candidates but also address the long-standing issue of teacher shortages in government schools, thereby strengthening academic activities.
According to official figures:
Primary teachers' vacancies: 1,81,276
Upper primary level (junior teachers): 8,714
Secondary school teachers: 3,872
UP Teacher Vacancy 2025: Over 1.8 Lakh Primary Teachers to Be Hired
As per media reports, the recruitment will be conducted in three phases, with nearly 65,000 teachers to be hired in each phase. The Yogi government reportedly presented its annual work plan during a Project Approval Board (PAB) meeting with the Ministry of Education in Delhi last Thursday, drawing attention to the urgency of teacher recruitment.
The education department aims to complete the primary teacher recruitment of 1,81,276 posts by March 2026. These positions will be filled through the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission, as per department sources.
This comes after a long wait — the last major teacher recruitment in UP was held in 2018. The announcement has been welcomed by aspiring candidates who have been waiting for new opportunities in the public education sector.
Online Transfers for Secondary Teachers
In addition to new recruitments, the online transfer process for secondary school teachers will be active till May 15, aimed at easing internal reshuffling and better deployment of faculty.
Officials say that the recruitment process will be conducted entirely online, with an aim to ensure transparency and minimize manual intervention. The portal for application and selection will include features such as e-verification, online counseling, and automatic merit-based selection.
Meanwhile, the online transfer portal for secondary teachers will remain open until May 15. This system allows current government teachers to apply for transfers digitally, reducing bureaucratic delays and facilitating better placement based on student–teacher ratios.
The teacher recruitment announcement is being seen as a politically strategic move ahead of upcoming civic and assembly-related activities. Education experts and teacher unions have welcomed the decision but are also demanding that the government ensure timely implementation, clear guidelines, and no delays in examination or joining dates.
The move is seen as a strategic effort by the Yogi Adityanath-led government to address teacher shortages, improve the quality of education in government schools, and fulfill its commitment to employment generation in the state.
Candidates and stakeholders are advised to keep an eye on official notifications for detailed schedules, eligibility criteria, and application procedures.
