The decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting held on July 21, 2026, as part of the government’s infrastructure development agenda aimed at strengthening road networks and boosting regional growth.

Expansion of Vindhya Expressway and Spur Link Projects

According to the approved proposal, the Vindhya-Purvanchal Spur Link will be developed at an estimated cost of ₹9,039 crore, while the Vindhya Expressway expansion has been approved at a cost of ₹26,315 crore. The combined investment of ₹35,354 crore is expected to significantly improve transportation infrastructure in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The Vindhya-Purvanchal Spur Link will enhance road connectivity for the districts of Ghazipur, Chandauli, and Mirzapur, making travel faster and more efficient. Meanwhile, the upgraded Vindhya Expressway will provide improved connectivity to Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra, reducing travel time and facilitating smoother movement of passengers and goods.
