In a landmark step toward sustainable urban development, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has unveiled plans to develop a 35-km green corridor along the Yamuna Expressway, linking Sector 17A to the upcoming Noida International Airport.
YEIDA to Develop 35-km Green Corridor Near Noida International Airport
With an investment of ₹692 crore, the project will feature a 100-metre-wide green belt, musical fountains, sculptures, footpaths, and theme-based landscaping aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and aesthetic value. The green corridor will not only support biodiversity but also offer recreational spaces for residents, making the stretch a model of pedestrian-friendly and eco-conscious infrastructure.
YEIDA is fast-tracking the aviation fuel pipeline project
In tandem, YEIDA is fast-tracking the aviation fuel pipeline project, a 34-km ATF pipeline by Bharat Petroleum from Faridabad to Jewar, nearing completion under the Jewar canal. The fuel line will ensure a steady supply for the airport’s operational needs, with June 30 set as the completion deadline by the Chief Secretary.
Together, the green corridor and pipeline signify YEIDA’s holistic urban planning approach—balancing development, ecological preservation, and livability—positioning the Noida Airport zone as a future-ready, sustainable urban hub.
To enhance walkability and public accessibility, dedicated pedestrian paths and cycle tracks will be developed along the green belt. The corridor is also expected to serve as a green buffer zone, mitigating noise and air pollution caused by increasing vehicular and air traffic as airport operations begin.
The project is part of YEIDA’s larger vision of creating smart, sustainable, and inclusive infrastructure around the Noida International Airport, which is projected to become a major aviation and commercial hub in northern India. This initiative also aligns with broader national goals under the Smart Cities Mission and the push for climate-conscious infrastructure development.
Simultaneously, progress is being made on an essential aviation fuel pipeline project by Bharat Petroleum, which spans 34 kilometres from Faridabad to Jewar. The pipeline will supply Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) directly to the Noida International Airport. A critical 1.2-kilometre section under the Jewar canal is in its final phase, and the entire line is expected to be operational before June 30, per directives from the Chief Secretary.
