In a social media post on Sunday, October 18, marking the worship of Maa Mahagauri, Yogi Adityanath said UP’s progress depends on healthy and safe mothers. He also named proper nutrition and education for girls, and dignity and financial independence for women, as conditions for that progress. He said women are playing a decisive role in the state’s growth through their capabilities and determination.
Self-Help Groups and Dairy Jobs
The Chief Minister said more than 1.20 crore women in the state are now linked to self-help groups. He added that over four lakh women across 31 districts work with dairy producer companies. He also said the government has handed the production and distribution of take-home ration to women’s self-help groups.

Higher Pay for Anganwadi Workers
Adityanath said the monthly honorarium of Anganwadi workers has risen from ₹3,000 to ₹12,000, with health insurance benefits as well. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for wider education and livelihood opportunities.
Rural Women and Technology
Earlier in the festival, he highlighted BC Sakhis, Lakhpati Didis and Drone Didis. He said these women are expanding rural banking, entrepreneurship and modern farming. On the sixth day, he spoke about women athletes and the state’s job policy for medal winners, linking sports growth to the past nine and a half years.
Safety and Law and Order
Adityanath also said his government’s zero-tolerance policy has strengthened women’s safety. He named improved law and order as one of the pillars of the state’s transformation since 2017.
A Note on the Claims
The figures come from the Chief Minister’s own statements. Some reports noted that his claims about conditions before 2017 came without comparative data. Independent figures would help readers judge the results.
The Bigger Picture
The Navratri messages show how the government is presenting women as central to its development story. They also show the message is aimed at women voters across the state.
