Yogi Govt issues guidelines for safety of electricity workers in monsoon

With an aim to prevent power-related accidents during monsoon, the Yogi government has issued a set of guidelines for the department’s officials, including fixing faults that occur during rains and adhering to prescribed standards in maintenance work.

M Devaraj, Chairman, Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has issued instructions to prevent accidents especially involving outsourced employees of the power department during the monsoon season and directed the officers to ensure strict compliance of the instructions.

The Chairman has said that the training of outsourced personnel should be organized through discoms as soon as possible after determining them at each distribution area and divisional level.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains in the coming days in Uttar Pradesh.

As the incidence of local faults increases during rains, leading to accidents, the government has directed electrical workers involved in distribution to exercise caution and follow specific precautions to prevent accidents. The government has also warned of strict action as per rules in case of an accident due to the carelessness of any officer.


The guidelines include provision of safety equipments as per prescribed safety standards for outsourced personnel deployed through outsourced agency at each 33/11 KV sub-stations including helmets, gloves, pliers, safety belts, earth chains, safety shoes , to be sure. Each gang has the necessary safety equipment during line work.
