Vande Bharat Sleeper Train : India’s First Sleeper Vande Bharat Express to Run Between Patna and Delhi, Will Cover Journey in Just 9 Hours

In a major boost for rail passengers traveling between Patna and Delhi, the country’s first Sleeper Vande Bharat Express is set to be launched on this route under the East Central Railway zone. The high-speed train will significantly reduce travel time, covering the distance between the two cities in just nine hours.

Preparations for the new service are currently in full swing, with the Railway Board actively working to finalize operations. Track repairs and infrastructure upgrades are underway along the Patna–Delhi rail corridor to enhance both speed and safety of the upcoming train.

Announcement at Patliputra Junction Event

The announcement was made by Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad during the inauguration of the Patna-Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express at Patliputra Junction on Friday. Speaking at the event, he highlighted the transformative potential of the new train service.

Boost to Bihar’s Economic and Social Growth

“This train will not only connect Patna and Delhi more efficiently, but also accelerate Bihar’s economic and social development,” said Prasad. He noted that the Central Government is implementing a ₹80,000 crore development plan for Bihar, including construction of new roads, bridges over the Ganga River, and a central university.

He also emphasized how rapid infrastructure development is changing urban mobility: “Today, it takes just 10 to 20 minutes to cross from one end of Patna to another, which reflects the speed of development.”

Modi-Nitish Partnership Driving Progress

MLC Anamika Singh Patel, who was also present, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying that Bihar has consistently received new development projects whenever PM Modi visits the state. “This strong partnership has given Bihar a new direction in growth,” she added.
