Mumbai Woman's Dance Video Controversy: Seeking Police Aid Amid "Kotha" Label

Viral News: A recent incident in Mumbai has stirred controversy as a woman, Shruti Parija, sought police intervention after her dance video became the center of a social media dispute. The disagreement ensued when Prateek Aaryan, a user on the platform, reposted a video of Ms. Parija dancing at a college fest.

Mr. Aaryan’s post sparked outrage as he criticized cultural programs in Indian schools and colleges, alleging that they resembled “kothas” and condemning performances of item songs. Despite Ms. Parija’s repeated requests for him to remove the video and clarifications regarding her professional status as a performer, Mr. Aaryan refused, stating his comments were directed at the broader education system rather than specifically targeting her.

Clash of Perspectives

In response to Mr. Aaryan’s refusal, Ms. Parija accused him of defamation and sought assistance from the Mumbai Police. She highlighted her efforts to have the video removed and expressed frustration over Mr. Aaryan’s refusal, alleging blackmail instead. Mr. Aaryan defended his stance, claiming he hadn’t personally targeted Ms. Parija and refused to delete the post despite the escalating dispute.

Police Involvement and Media Resolution

Subsequently, Ms. Parija reached out to the Mumbai Police via social media, prompting them to seek her contact details for further investigation. Meanwhile, she reported that due to a copyright claim, the media in Mr. Aaryan’s post had been disabled. However, the video remained accessible in certain regions, indicating a partial resolution to the conflict.
